Michael J. DiTullo, CEO of Pattern for Progress, has been named the new Executive Vice President of Community Relations and Business Development at Hillside Homes and Development.

Michael Perez, President of Newburgh-based Hillside Homes, announced that DiTullo will head a new division, "Hillside Communities," to focus on traditional neighborhood development and town centers with a concentration on workforce housing and active adult communities.

"We are honored that Mike chose Hillside," Perez said. "He is highly regarded throughout the Hudson River Valley as a dynamic thinker with great ideas and ideals."

At Hillside Communities, DiTullo will have direct responsibility for the approval and permitting process, business development and marketing, as well as community outreach and press relations. DiTullo longs to take the theories he's learned at Pattern and turn them into practice.

"It has been my privilege and pleasure to serve the region and lead Pattern for Progress for eight years," DiTullo said. "At Pattern, I have learned the real meaning of collaborative leadership and regional stewardship. I will now apply the same entrepreneurial spirit and persistence to solving challenges that land-use professionals find in creating traditional neighborhood developments and housing for young families and active adults."

DiTullo said that he has overwhelming regard and gratitude for the integrity, ethic and work of Hillside Homes. "We are committed to creating town centers that include elements for pedestrian-friendly urban settings, affordability and mixed-use where residential and commercial are integrated in ways that further a community's sense of itself."

DiTullo served as president of the Orange County Partnership from 1986 to 1996 and has a bachelor's degree in economics from Empire State College. He lives in the town of Shawangunk with his wife of 32 years, Joan.

Hillside Homes & Development Corp. is a master builder of single-family and multi-family clustered housing and commercial facilities. Established in 1990, Hillside Homes has built nearly 400 housing units in Orange, Dutchess and Ulster Counties.
